  1. HOUSTON, TX (February 28, 2019)—Comicpalooza, Texas’ largest pop culture festival, will invade the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB) for its 11thyear on Friday, May 10 –Sunday, May 12. Continuing in its tradition of rich and diverse programming, the curated tracks and special events cover a wide range of pop culture interests; a robust gaming experience; a budding film festival; comic book professionals, including publishers, writers, and artists; Artist Alley, Dealer’s Room, Maker’s Space and interactive displays on the exhibit floor; popular cosplay competitions; and entertainment throughout the weekend –guaranteeing this year’s event will be one for the (comic) books!We are thrilled to kick off the guest announcements with a stacked cast lineup from Amazon’s highly reviewed reboot of the popular superhero franchise, ‘The Tick’ including Peter Serafinowicz who plays the title role,Griffin Newman, who portrays The Tick’s faithful sidekick, Arthur,Brendan Hines, Yara Martinez, andScott Speiser. English actor, comedian and writer, Peter Serafinowicz has played many film roles including Pete in Shaun of the Dead, and Garthan Saal in Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as lends his voice as Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I –The Phantom Menace. Griffin Newman, American actor and comedian, is best known for starring as Arthur Everest in ‘The Tick’. Additionally, Newman co-hosts the film podcast ‘Blank Check with Griffin andDavid’ alongside critic David Sims. Brendan Hines was active in the theater until being cast as the lead in his first feature, the 2001 independent film Ordinary Sinner. He has since appeared in film and television, most notably: ‘Lie To Me’, ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’, ‘Scandal’, ‘Suits’, ‘The Middleman’, ‘MacGyver’, and most recently as Superian in ‘The Tick’. Yara Martinez stars as Miss Lint in ‘The Tick’and can also be seen as Dr. Luisa Alver in CW’s Golden Globe nominated comedy series, ‘Jane The Virgin’ opposite Gina Rodriguez. Scott Speiser is a series regular on ‘The Tick’ and has guest starred on ‘NCIS’, ‘Hawaii Five-0’, ‘Blue Bloods’, ‘Criminal Minds’, Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, and ‘Mike & Molly’. Notable talent previously announced include Trish Stratus and Amy “Lita” Dumas WWE stars known as “Team Bestie”; GatesMcFadden who played Beverly Crusher and Michael Dornwho played Worf on ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ TV series and movie franchise as well as on the TV series ‘Star Trek: Deep Space 9’; John Wesley Shipp from ‘The Flash’, ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Teen Wolf’; Andrew Divoffand Jeremy Davies of ‘Lost’, among other character actorroles in numerous series for Davies. 
  2. Joining the on-screen talent is an impressive comic book lineup featuring Neal Adams, who has had a major impact on comic books as well as being a premiere creative force. Adams has worked on legendary runs of Batman, X-Men, Green Lantern/Green Arrow, Avengers, Deadman and many more. Known forever to fandom as “the man who killed Gwen Stacy,” Gerry Conwayis also co-creator of The Punisher, Ms.Marvel, Killer Croc, Vibe, Steel, Vixen, Firestorm, Power Girl, Man-Thing,Werewolf-by-Night, The Jackal, Tombstone, Tarantula, Count Vertigo, and many other popular characters for Marvel and DC Comics. Last year, Comicpalooza welcomed more than 50,000 fans and featured more than 1,000 hours of programming over the three-day event.
